Many tech companies are a part of our daily lives. We use their products and services every single day, without giving much thought about who is responsible for founding these companies and for working hard to make them successful.
Most of us have heard of Mark Zuckerberg and Steve Jobs, but there are many other founders of famous tech companies. As the Toronto tech industry continues to develop at a rapid pace, you can expect more names to be added to this prestigious list in the future.

The founders of Google are Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
You probably use Google’s search engine, or one of the services offered by this multinational tech company every single day. But do you know who invented Google?
Google was founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, who were both Ph.D. students at Stanford University in California. The search engine was created in 1996 as a research project, and was officially founded in 1998.
Larry Page and Sergey Brin wanted to create a search engine that would be better than the conventional ones, and they developed the PageRank algorithm still used by Google to this day. Both founders are now software engineers and internet entrepreneurs.
4. Founders of Microsoft
The founders of Microsoft are Bill Gates and Paul Allen.
Many things wouldn’t be the same without the software and the many products and services offered by Microsoft Corporation. Bill Gates and Paul Allen co-founded this multinational tech company in 1975.
Bill Gates is a well-known business magnate, investor, philanthropist, and software developer. He is also one of the wealthiest people in the world. As for Paul Allen, he was also a business magnate, an investor and a philanthropist.
The word Microsoft stands for microcomputer software. On top of the Windows operating systems, the company is known for Microsoft Office, the Xbox console, and many more products.

The founder of Amazon is Jeff Bezos.
If you are familiar with online shopping, you surely have already bought more than one item from Amazon, the largest online retailer on the planet. Jeff Bezos founded this multinational tech company in 1994.
Jeff Bezos, who is considered the richest man in the world, is an internet entrepreneur, an industrialist, a media proprietor, and an investor. He started Amazon as an online marketplace for books, and today, you can buy pretty much anything you want on the company’s website.
Amazon Publishing, Amazon Prime, Amazon Studios, and Amazon Web Services are only a few of the products offered by this tech giant.
6. Founders of Wikipedia
The founders of Wikipedia are Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger.
If you have a question about any topic, you can Google it. Or you can go to Wikipedia to read all about it. Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger founded this multilingual online encyclopedia in 2001. It was first developed as an encyclopedia in English, but many more languages followed.
Jimmy Wales is an internet entrepreneur, and Larry Sanger is an internet project developer who also founded Citizendium in 2006, in order to compete with Wikipedia.

The founders of Yahoo are Jerry Yang and David Filo.
Even though Yahoo! is not as popular today as it was back in the 1990’s, the websites of this web services provider are still among the most visited ones in the world.
Jerry Yang and David Filo founded the Yahoo! company in 1994, and it quickly became the first popular online directory and search engine on the internet. Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! News are only two of the services offered by this company.
David Filo is a businessman, and Jerry Yang is an internet entrepreneur, a computer programmer, and a venture capitalist.
